The theme The Rural Care Habitat: From First Visit to Lifelong Care, highlights the rural care habitat, emphasising comprehensive, person-centred care from the initial point of contact through lifelong health and wellbeing.

We invite Nurse Practitioners and health professionals working at an advanced level to submit an abstract showcasing innovative research, practice, education, and policy initiatives that advance rural healthcare across the lifespan.

Submissions are invited on the following themes: 

  • Innovative models of rural primary, acute and chronic care

  • Advanced nursing practice in rural and remote settings

  • Continuity of care: from first presentation to long-term management

  • Indigenous, culturally safe, and community-led rural health approaches

  • Digital health, telehealth and technology-enabled rural care

  • Workforce sustainability, education and leadership on nursing

  • Integrated care across health, social, and community services 

  • Health equity access, and outcomes in rural populations

  • Policy, funding, and system innovations supporting rural practice

Abstract categories: 

  • Original Research 

  • Quality improvement and service evaluation

  • Practice innovation and case studies 

  • Education and workforce development 

  • Policy and system reform

Submission Guidelines:

  • Abstracts should clearly outline background, aim, methods, outcomes, and relevance to rural advanced practice 

  • Word limit of 250 words 

  • Submissions from interdisciplinary teams are welcome, with nursing leadership clearly articulated 

  • Successful abstracts are allocated 10 minutes, including 2-minute question time

  • Submissions that demonstrate innovation, scalability, sustainability, and real-world impact within rural health contexts are encouraged.
